BiziNet: Sydney Hills is known as one of the most, if not the most, business-oriented regions in NSW. 2-3 decades ago, no one would even think about the growth we have seen in Norwest Business Park and the whole Hills Business District. Could you please highlight what the future entails for the Hills Business Community?

ABS Figures from the 2016 census show that 51.4% of the Hills workforce are women. There are also more female residents who are professionals (12,028) 31.6 % higher than the Sydney average of 29.3% and an increase of 1628 professionals since the 2011 census.

More female Hills resident workers have qualifications (69.7%) compared to the rest of greater Sydney (68.4%).

NSW is Australia’s oldest and most populous state, with abundant resources, environmental wonders, and a population brimming with Australia’s best and brightest people.

In a first for The Hills, Council recently partnered with the Western Sydney Business Connection, NSW Department of Industry and the Industry Capacity Network to deliver a Strategic Business Matching Project, where major procurers and local businesses participated in a targeted business matching event at the Castle Hill Cultural Centre.

Small businesses - the backbone of the local economy

Did you know that the majority of businesses in The Hills are small businesses? These include home-based businesses, start-ups, established family companies, small and medium-sized businesses - all adding to the economic activity of local community and the NSW economy.
